The 020 series: Top Lighting Product of the Decade
SILL’s 020 power projector series that was introduced in 2002 has been voted Top Lighting Product of the Decade by a panel of independent lighting experts at the Light 100 Awards on 6 October 2005. The award was presented by industry journal Light Magazine to mark the occasion of its 100th issue.
“We are delighted to receive this award, which is a token of recognition for our achievements over the years” commented Bob Bohannon, General Manager of SILL UK, following the award ceremony. Bohannon went on to express thanks and credit to the SILL team in Berlin: “They have continued to innovate great products that act as highly effective tools for our lighting designer clients.“
The rotational-symmetric projectors in the 020 series were originally designed for interior and exterior illumination and floodlighting. This decorative projector series is the successor to SILL’s successful 090 series projectors.

“LEDs ensure a new understanding of light”
LEDs first began their triumphant advance as standby lights. They now embody the light of the future. Rajko Braunschweig from SILL GmbH explains this development in our audio feature: “They have a long lifespan, consume very little energy, require almost no maintenance – and can generate all sorts of different colour temperatures from white to colourful light.” As a consequence, LEDs have tremendous potential to ensure a whole new understanding of light. |

SILL lights up Berlin’s new main train station
| Berlin’s new main train station, which was opened in May 2006, is without a doubt one of the most spectacular buildings built in recent years. SILL was involved in developing a lighting concept for Europe’s biggest intersection train station. In implementing the illumination concept, high quality criteria had to be met. Which is why all SILL lights are insulated, water and dustproof, and conform with protection rating IP 54, class II. Particular attention was also paid to selecting low-maintenance fittings. |

Opening of the new Airport Station Cologne-Bonn, Germany
SILL’s newly developed and installed illumination emphasises the architecture and the atmosphere of this modern train station.
The subterrestrial station has been designed by star architect Helmut Jahn. A friendly and light atmosphere is achieved by the 156 metres long and 39 metres wide glass dome - the gem of this station. The four track station is an exemplar of groundbreaking architecture combined with SILL’s innovative light technology and an intermodal infrastructure. This tight combination of car, train and airplane is unique in Germany.

"Red Town Hall" of Berlin shines in new glory
The new exterior lighting, developed and installed by SILL, effectively accentuates architecture and impression of one of the most famous Berlin landmarks.
The ‘Red Town Hall’, named after the red-brick walls, has been the domicile of the governing mayor of Berlin since 1991. The stately four-story building with four wings and a tower in the middle of the main front was finished in 1870 in accordance with plans by architect Herrmann Friedrich Waesemann based on an Italian palazzo. Its walls are decorated with terracotta reliefs depicting historical Berlin motives and illuminated by SILL lighting. |
